Why use the Hi-Gate low headroom safety gate system?

The new Hi-Gate advantages over ordinary up-and-over pallet gates are:
● The open top accepts unlimited load height and allows loading by either forklift or overhead hoist.
● Lower headroom – Can operate below standard room height at 2.35 metres for 1.5 metres inside gate width, and the open top gives significantly more clearance for tall pallets, especially where headroom is reduced.
● It does not protrude over the floor edge, whether open or shut, reducing the chance of collision with a rising load.
● Minimal working depth – The opening gate scissors up to one side (Left or right-handed operation to suit location) – It takes up less operational floor depth.
● An anti-slam damper within the bi-directional gates linking mechanism prevents gates from inadvertently plummeting, preventing operator injury.
● Option for an asymmetric edge gate, which reduces the gap width required. The fixed top half projects out beyond the floor edge to allow clearance of the adjacent handrail – It also allows the edge gate to be positioned nearer to the floor edge for optimum forklift loading.
● Option for custom inside width up to 2.0 metres - Ideal for bulkier pallets or wider load baskets.
● Option for increased inside depth (Up to 4 metres) for handling longer loads by hoist. Loads can remain suspended through the loading sequence and continue beyond the inner gate if required.
● Longer working life – Mechanical construction allows for replacing damaged or worn parts.
● Full compliance with ISO 14122-3:2016 testing and safety requirements - It protects all personnel from moving loads and falling from unprotected edges during loading operations and at all other times too.

The innovative 'Hi-Gate' range of safety gates has been specifically developed to provide fool-proof safety for personnel working a height. The design is ideal for loading applications on mezzanine floors, hoist openings, scaffold platforms, teagle openings or hoist doorways. The gate linking mechanism includes an anti-slam damper for operator safety.

• The mechanism can be positioned in any corner to suit the location.
• An asymmetric edge gate option allows the fixed top half of the edge gate to pass in front of the adjacent handrail. Bringing the edge gate nearer the edge for optimum loading by forklift whilst maintaining minimum gap width.
• Teagle opening/runway hoist loading application model (See case study).
• Doorway Modification - Side frames horizontal tubes are extended beyond feet for passage through drilled holes in the wall. Drilled holes on one or both sides of the door. The edge gate is mounted outboard of the door opening - The design varies according to door type. The gate mechanism leg must be positioned at the inboard operator's end. (See case study)

• Additional handrailing to complete barrier infill or extend around the platform as required
• Floor plate in aluminium chequer plate 1250 mm wide x 1150 mm deep with 100mm fold to protect edge (Recommended for wood floors). Order 2 for wider coverage).

Component Specification

Mezzbarriers tube clamps are made from malleable cast iron.  Manufactured in conformance with BS EN 1562:1997, it is a dependable and well-proven material for this product type. The fittings are then hot-dipped galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:1999 to produce a durable corrosion-resistant finished surface for extended life. Grub screws are stainless steel. Specially fabricated components are zinc sprayed as standard.
